One week on it remains a startling performance. I have seen him 6 times now '76 (Born to Run), '85 (Born in the USA), '90 (Human Touch), '99 (Reunion), '02 (The Rising) and I rate this second after the '76 tour and shade better than the '99 re-union tour. Spectacular opening with Bruce does the Clash on Radio Nowhere, a rediscovery of past gems like No Surrender, Working on the Highway, and an exhilerating version of Because the Night featuring a spine chilling 5 min guitar solo from Nils Lofgren that left the crowd awe struck. Stand-out favourites like Jungleland, and the River and Born to Run, and especially badlands, superb live versions from Magic of the title track and The girls in their summer clothes, beauty in 'Reason to Believe' and finishing with Dancing in the dark and Santa Claus is Coming to Town! Unusually for Bruce, there were political
speeches against Bush and the erosion of civil liberties. But mostly he and
the band proved! They are the tighest complete unit on the planet and that
he in the show featuring his rock 'n roll history, tracks from Nebraska,
devils & Dust and Seeger sessions showed that he has few peers who at his
age can still produce excellent new work, new directions and not just trade
on past glories. No 1 rock band on the planet... Gauntlet thrown to U2 and
the Chillis!
